What is the difference between a mobile and portable terminal?
A portable terminal is used, mostly, in restaurants. It can only work within a certain range of a base station that is connected by a phone line through to their acquirer.
A mobile terminal connects a merchant to its acquirer via a mobile phone connection and can be used wherever there is a signal. It is, typically, used for shows and fairs and can be rented short term e.g. for three days or longer or it can be purchased.
